General background to IRCAM Seminars :

Music and Mathematics have long been associated, and thinking about musical form in  terms of mathematical structures from arithmetic, geometry, algebra, topology etc.  goes back a long way. These seminars explore the present state  of this relationship based on today’s mathematical developments and their possible bearing on issues in the theory and practice of music.
